There is no single source of food which provided all the vitamins you need to support your breastfeeding activity. Various kinds of food have to be consumed to produce high quality breast milk. It is the only source which gives complete nutrition for your new born baby. Therefore, you need to know the essential vitamins you have to provide for having more qualified breast milk. It does not mean that you are neglected the function of minerals and protein. But you have to know that vitamins play an important role in your baby’s development. Vitamin C is needed to encourage your baby immune system to fight off infection and disease. Papaya, broccoli, strawberries, cauliflower and kale are good sources of vitamin C.

Another is vitamin A that supports the formation and maintenance of healthy skin, hair, and mucous membranes. This is the reason why you are suggested to consume cheese, yogurt, eggs, and oily fishes. Vitamins which belong to B group vitamins have great contribution in producing high quality breast milk. They help in forming new cells and healthy nervous system. Meat, egg, and fish are good sources of vitamin B. If you are vegetarian, you can eat foods which are fortified with vitamin B. Calcium and vitamin D should be taken in enough portions because they relate to help your baby’s body in developing strong teeth and bones. Many mothers expose their baby under the morning sunshine to support the function of vitamin D. During winter when you do not have access to sunlight, consuming salmon, tuna, and liver should be added to complete the needs of vitamin D.
