OpenID

[edit] High Level Overview
CrashatMine allows OpenID to simplify user login/signup. Currently it operates only as a relying party, but in future you could use one crashatmine login to log into another crash at mine website. The current simple registration protocol (sreg) seems to have a limited set of fields that can be sent to other relying parties, and there is no way to transmit friendship data.
Work being done here, here or here may solve this problem.
[edit] Integration with other networks
[edit] BeWelcome
- Possible, but a few key people are very negative toward the idea.
- lemon-head would support it, but is currently almost zero active.
- As at 13 Sept 07 it requires legal and Board approval, with no official case made.
- OpenID is still seen controversial but support as OpenID client has been approved by the dev team and Board in 2007
- Since the BeWelcome signup process currently requires manual approval, it would restrict cross-network portability.
[edit] CouchSurfing
- unlikely.
- Kasper had previously integrated features like MicroID into CouchSurfing, but it seems they've all been stripped out.
- Couchsurfing is more likely to see opening up their login system as a threat.
[edit] HospitalityClub
- unlikely, given the closed nature.
- This article is a stub. You can help by expanding it.
